Game Move Confirmed Wed 17th Jan 2001 10:12 Reports this morning are confirming that Town's Worthington Cup semi-final second leg at St Andrews's has moved to Tuesday January 30th. Expect statements of annoyance from David Sheepshanks and Birmingham officials as the day goes on. |
Town 1-0 Birmingham Wed 10th Jan 2001 00:31 Town take a 1-0 victory to St Andrew's in two weeks time. A penalty just before half-time from Marcus Stewart saw Town gain victory, but perhaps more important was the cleansheet kept by Richard Wright and his defence. |
Birmingham Row Rumbles On Thu 04th Jan 2001 16:49 While Town fans argue about whether or not we should sell David Johnson, in Birmingham the row over the Worthington Cup semi-final second leg continues. West Midlands police have confirmed that they have asked Birmingham to move their match with Town from Wednesday January 24th to another date. |
Morecambe Squad and News Thu 04th Jan 2001 15:55 Tonw have no new injury worries for the match at Morecambe. Richard Naylor and John Scales remain on the sidelines, but Wayne Brown travels for the first time in a while after his troublesome groin problem cleared up. |
Op for Brown Fri 17th Nov 2000 10:38 Town centre-half Wayne Brown may have to undergo a minor operation to rid him of his persistent hip/groin injury. The left-sided player has had a problem all season and even took a holiday to get some rest. This has not done the trick and he's off to see a specialist to have a scan in a fortnight. He had an injection last week to help settle the problem. |
Trialists at Portman Road Wed 15th Nov 2000 11:58 Town currently have an Italian and two Swedes on trial at Portman Road. Andreus Karlsson and Mirca Jelecak are the Swedes while Mirko Tanzi is the Italian. They are joined at Town by Frank Yallop's boys Bobby Convey and Antonio Otero who are spending some time training with the Blues. |
Town to be Reported Thu 12th Oct 2000 18:46 The increasingly bizarre Gert Verheyen Affair (or Verheyengate) has twisted a new turn today with reports suggesting Town are to be reported to FIFA over their handling of the deal/non-deal. |
Another Move for Verheyen Mon 02nd Oct 2000 11:26 With the weekend's offer to Club Brugge of around the £1 million mark turned down by the Belgians Town may look to put in an improved offer. Brugge commercial manager, Antoine Vanhove, said of the original Town offer: "Ipswich's offer is less than £1.75 million and I have told them that the answer is no. It is possible that they will offer more but we don't want to release Verheyen. We have already sold Fadiga and Deflandre and we don't want to lose our best players. We have our own ambitions." So it looks like £1.7 million will be the cost of getting the player, who scored two goals at the weekend as Brugge won 5-2 against KV Mechelen. Verheyen himself seems keen on Town's wooings: "Ipswich Town's interest is serious. I don't just want to leave it. I will talk to Vanhove about the situation in the next few days." |
Burley Denies Move For Latvian Mon 24th Jul 2000 11:42 George Burley has moved swiftly to quash newspaper reports claiming Town interest in Andre Rubens, described as the Latvian Ryan Giggs. He also said he had no interest in former Town trialist Russell Latapy of Hibs and reiterated his disinterest in Sheffield United's Marcus Bent. |
Town to Triple Wright's Wages Thu 15th Jun 2000 10:52 Reports this morning are claiming that Town are to triple Richard Wright's wages in order to get him to commit to the club beyond the end of next season. |
